Hey, that's the Zaphod I always pictured when I read the books; one half Rockwell, one half Wing-Davies. For some reason, in my head the Rockwell head would say all the really dumb stuff, and the Wing-Davies head would do the rest, which was mostly insulting Arthur Dent. Only difference is in my head, the Wing-Davies head would be the one with the eye patch.
It seemed like the best way to appeal to the widest possible audience, since there would be people who would recognize the movie or the show, plus it fits with how silly a character Zaphod is.
I do agree with you on the eye patch though, I regret my decision to leave it out. Eye patches are always awesome.
I just love this series! It was my introduction to sci-fi! Zaphod looks a lot like his incarnation in the last movie he did, while Ford is...well, it's FORD. There is no personifying him in live-mediums. Always figured he'd looked more than a little loopy and suspicious. Mr. Dent, on the other hand, is more of an archetype than someone that can be portrayed. No matter who plays him, he ALWAYS LOOKS LIKE THIS.
Alas, that bowl of petunias. It's been having a bad time of serial reincarnations. My guess is, Agrajag is the distant fate of Black Mage from 8-Bit Theater; the universe is making him suffer for being, well, BLACK MAGE. It was such a long time ago he doesn't even remember it, Arthur Dent constantly killing him being a bit on hs mind nowadays, but Black Mage's atrocities are certainly worthy of such overreaction.
Its actually not Ford. Zaphod has two heads, which they used a lot more in the old television adaptation, and that's the style I was going for with his second head. I probably would have used Mos Def if I had put Ford in, since more people would recognize him that way.
I had forgotten the name of that guy actually, but yeah, poor him, Arthur has killed him so many times, unwittingly.
Its understandable, they handle his second head in different ways in each adaptation, each version being a little different is kind of a running thing in HHGTTG, the radio program, the television series, the books, the movie, each one's story is slightly different, and yet Douglas Adams wrote for all of them.

I always thought Mos Def made a good Ford.
The potted plant stands out as 'particularily absurd way to kill someone'. Right up there with 'beaver and toy taxi cab'.
Mos Def mos' def' made a good Ford.
